Banff National Park is famous for its glacial blue lakes and stunning mountain views. Stand up paddleboarding and kayaking are unique ways to explore the scenic, serene bodies of water in Banff National Park. If you’re planning to stand up paddle in Banff National Park, we kindly ask that you do your part to stop the spread of harmful aquatic invasive species, such as invasive mussels and whirling disease. Parks Canada has made it mandatory for all water-way users to clean, drain and dry their watercraft before arriving. Self-certification permits are required for anyone paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, or boating in Banff National Park. You can either collect a permit at the lake or river or get one ahead of time online. (Don’t worry, all SkiBig3 Adventure Hub water-sport rentals are cleaned after each use, so rest assured their safe to use in Banff National Park!). *Please note that Parks Canada has issued a restriction for watercraft use in neighbouring Kootenay, Yoho, and Waterton Lakes National Park. No watercrafts will be permitted until March 31, 2025 in these areas.
