Via Ferrata

Mt. Norquay VIA FERRATA

Discover six breathtaking routes on the cliffs above Mt. Norquay on their assisted climbing Via Ferrata adventure. Test your bravery with the guidance of an experienced ACMG guide, as you scale mountain faces, climb ladders, and cross suspension bridges all while safely secured with a steel cable and harness.

HANDS-ON ADVENTURE ABOVE THE CLOUDS

Looking for the thrill of a lifetime? Challenge yourself to climb Banff’s only Via Ferrata (Italian for the Iron Path) at Mt. Norquay.  Rated the area’s top activity on Trip Advisor, this exhilarating ascent into the cliffs high above the ski area offers jaw-dropping views. Lead by a certified guide, you make your way up a fixed anchoring system of cables, ladders and a suspension bridge. The exposure is real, but so is the safety. No climbing experience is necessary, just the physical ability to climb a ladder and a healthy spirit of adventure.

Via Ferrata and  Sightseeing operates June 10 – October 8, 2023 (weather permitting)

Choose from five amazing  Via Ferrata experiences:

  • Explorer Route – $194.25
The 2.5 hour route for those wanting an introductory taste for mountaineering.
  • Ridgewalker Route – $252
The 4 hour route that takes you high up on the Norquay cliffs, climbing Memorial, Sunrise and Vista buttresses and traversing the suspension bridge.
  • Alpinist Route – $273
The 4-5 hour route is longer than the Ridgewalker but done in the same amount of time. Extending along the ridge to the epic Norquay “Panoramadone”, then the scenic narrow crest of the mountain for another 600m.
  • Skyline Route – $309.75
The 4.5 – 5 hour route includes an exciting high traverse on a sheer rock wall and crosses an “airy” 55m suspension bridge.
  • Summiteer Route – $388.50
The 6 hour route is the pinnacle of Norquay’s via ferrata adventures. A continuation of the ‘Skyline’ route this 6-hour route traverses the alpine ridge crossing an additional 3-wire suspension bridge over an impressive chasm.

You’ll also get the chance to enjoy a round-trip ride on the historic North American Chairlift, learn about the important connection between the wildlife and the environment in Banff National Park, and enjoy a refreshing drink on the rooftop patio of the Cliffhouse Bistro.
